- Excellent drive
Installed this last month and have had zero problems so far.
After installing, the firmware update took about 10 mins and so far I've had no blu rays fail to play. Have burned many discs and had zero failures, the lightscribe result also seems to be much better quality than my older DVD rewriter (also Samsung). Also regular DVDs played using the PowerDVD TrueTheater look fantastic and look as good as films broadcast on Sky HD
I was also going to buy PowerDVD 10 but now will not bother as the PowerDVD 8 supplied is the 6CH OEM version that has all features enabled (Dolby Digital, DTS, S/PDIF pass through, TrueTheater etc.).
My friend bought a LG blu ray drive recently and his bundled SW was the 2CH OEM version and he had to pay to upgrade to get his surround sound working (at a cost of [...])
Also included is Power2Go burning software and Labelling software.
If you did want to upgrade to PowerDVD 10 ultra 3D the link from the program itself let you upgrade for [...] (seems to detect it as PowerDVD 8 Ultra)
All in all this is an excellent drive and the software supplied makes it good value over the OEM version that is also available for a few pounds less.
- graet bluray player
came this morning very quick delivery it took around 30 mins to install then the software took another 30 mins as it required updating via their website which makes me wonder why an updated version of it wasn't included but saying that the quality of the picture in full hd was amazing as was the sound at the price unless you want to burn bluray this in my op ion is a very good product
- Fantastic Drive, Fantastic Value For Money.
For a while, I'd been meaning to upgrade my PC's optical drive to something more future-proof and capable. I hadn't been entirely convinced by Blu-Ray's potential. Until recently, when the sheer difference in picture quality and overall entertainment value rendered me very impressed. However, when I took buying a dedicated Blu-Ray player or a Playstation 3 into consideration, I felt the benefits weren't worth the cost.
This drive, the Samsung B083L, changes things.
When I discovered this item on Amazon, I thought I'd made a mistake. A brand new, high-quality, premium-brand Blu-Ray drive for just over £50? Impossible.
However, when I read further into the product itself, and made the decision to order one, I was proven wrong. This drive, as the cost would not lead you to believe, is top-of-the-range, and has an unprecedented quality of performance.
Whether you're convinced by Blu-Rays or not, I strongly recommend that you purchase one of these. Not only is it well-built and looks fantastic when fitted in a PC's case, it'll also likely serve you well in the years to come, as Blu-Rays become the standard platform of visual entertainment.
And the value for money is insane.
- Blu ray drive
Ths item is very good it gives the bes quality all the time andit s very worth buying.
The npy problem with the product is itonly has a dvd R/W. And it doesnt have a bluray R/W.
- Excellent blu ray player
After it not working due to a faulty SATA cable (bought seperate and you get one in the box anyway) I finally get it installed, first thing it does it upgrade the firmware. Then you need to install the supplied PowerDVD 8. Then I tested and WOW, absolutely superb picture and sound on a blu-ray title.
I have yet to test the dvd writing but I am sure it will be fine.
Highly recommended. And I did read somwhere that the drive is noisey when watching a blu-ray. I didn't notice that at all.
I now have a blu-ray player in the front room, a ps3 in the other room and one in my PC, if you don't have blu-ray and loves quality in your viewing, get one.
