5 star(s) - One of my best blu-ray movies

Before I purchased this movie I read some of the reviews and they almost put me off, but having now taken the plunge and watched the movie I have to say that I think it was great.

I enjoyed it from the very start and I wasn't disapointed with the ending like some others. The quality of the picture and the sound are amazing, one scene in particular actually dislodged some of my china plates in my display cabinet (luckily none broke), if you want a movie to demonstrate your surround system this is a must.

I'm no Barry Norman so I dont go into detail about movies and give the plot away, I just say what I think with my honest opinion, I want to be entertained and am not bothered about what is plausible, this film will be watched again very soon when my friends come round for the evening.

5 star(s) - A cinematic tone poem - and a showcase for HD

The story is not to everyone's taste, much less the cod-philosophy which drives its premise. But this film evokes something - an indefinable dread, maybe - that really seeps into the bones. I came out of the cinema wanting to hug my kids, urgently; the same urge grabs me when I watch this on blu. More than your average disaster-flick downer, Knowing is a kind of cinematic tone poem - a closely-woven piece that provokes and sustains a mood; that's my experience, anyway. Proyas achieved much the same (with richer narrative) in Dark City.

As to the blu-ray: wow! The US release may boast higher bit-rates, but this is still one gorgeous transfer and a flawless encode. Reference grade PQ and AQ, as others have noted.

My recommendation: a strong purchase, with big rewatch (or: refeel) value. Just don't trouble yourself overly with the plot. Go with the mood.

5 star(s) - THIS FILM IS HOT
