5 star(s) - Great player, excellent picture and easy to use.

I got this player as a second player to replace a DVD player so I could also play Bluray discs that we now have and use on our main TV and player.

I have been very pleased with this with the bluray pictures looking very sharp and clear with great colour and clarity of detail.
DVD playback is also good with the picture looking very good and definitely better than my old DVD player.

Startup times are not bad, and it loads the Bluray discs in an acceptable time frame.

Another feature that I really like is the Viera link. Where the player had to go is not a direct line of site from the viewing area, but with the Viera link the remote worked fine via the TV and I had no loss of functionality.
Obviously this depends on having a Panasonic TV with Viera link though, which I planned for anyway.

Overall there is nothing about this player that dissapoints me or that I find frustrating. It is easily recommended.

5 star(s) - Panasonic blu ray player

Chose this player as not many of them have a slot for your photo memory card and another thing which was very important to me was the fact that this player plays DVD ram. I have a lot of my videos recorded onto DVD ram and there are not many blu ray players with this function. Quality of picture is very very good and I am very pleased with my purchase and the price was good too so I am one happy bunny. Set up was amazingly easy I did it myself and it took a couple of minutes.

5 star(s) - Great Player

Plugged it in, switched it on and bingo in about 5 mins we were playing films through our TV. It's easy to use the only slight irritation is how long it takes to start up, but as we had a Panasonic DVD recorder/player before we were used to that.

Nice slim line casing - slightly smaller footprint than our cable box which sits on top

5 star(s) - Utterly Brilliant

Delivery of this item was super quick - thanks to Amazon. The player is really easy to set up but you do need to purchase an HDMI cable which, if you want full HD, will mean a shock to the wallet - mine cost me £68.00. Picture quality is superb and the sound is really good too. For those who like to delve into the settings, the instruction manual is easy to follow. I cannot recommend this player enough.

5 star(s) - Excellent all round

The quality of the picture is breathtaking with my 50in Panasonic plasma, and (perhaps more surprisingly) the sound is excellent and better than i have experienced before even though I don't have any additional external sound system. It also does a much better job of upscaling DVDs than any upscaling DVD player I have seen, though there is still a difference between upscaled DVD's and Blurays. Start up time is slower than DVD players, but again, in comparison to other bluray players I have seen it is less slow. For those of you who may have read about problems with freezing discs, be assured that panasonics latest firmware release (v. 2.2 at time of writing) has solved that problem. I have had no problems at all in that respect, and browsing the forums, others who previously reported problems and who later upgraded firmware to v.2.2, no longer report problems. Updating firmware and connecting to BD live via the internet is very simple. There are a number of different ways of doing it. For those of you with netbooks/laptops and who want to connect your bluray to the internet, may I suggest a network bridge as a (virtually) no cost solution? (just requires cheap ethernet cable). On Windows XP, go to Start - Connect to - Show all connections. Hold down the shift key whilst clicking on both your wireless connection and local area connection (ethernet). Whilst both are still highlighted, right click and select network bridge. Your computer will then install windows software with the usual warnings that it hasnt been verified. Don't worry, it is safe to install. When this is done, just connect your bluray to the laptop with an ethernet cable. The firmware update was automatic and each time I connect to the internet, the bluray checks for the latest update, though you are not aware of that as it doesn't report anything if there is no newer firmware. To access BD-live simply press "viera cast" on the remote. Viera link works seamlessly with my Panasonic telly, and navigation around picasa and youtube is better than i expected, though data input can be slow because of the way you need to use the remote.
