5 star(s) - Easy way to recycle old drive

I normally don't have much luck with this sort of product but thought for £12 it was worth a try. My notebook had died but I thought the drive with unbacked up data (should be more disciplined) might be OK. When the enclosure arrived I took the drive out of the notebook and it's old sleeve, popped it into the enclosure and plugged in the power and USB connection - worked first time. Recognised immediately by Windows XP The whole job took less than 5mins, it seems ages since something worked so effortlessly. Must back up the data now! Excellent product, also kudos to CDL Micro for first class buying experience.

5 star(s) - Great device

I bought this needing to connect a SATA drive to my laptop and only having old ATA caddys. This is great and is well worth the money - highly recommended.

5 star(s) - Fantastic little box

Had a laptop with a graphics card that had died on me. Thought that I would need to get some professional help removing the data from the hard drive as I hadn't backed up all my files.

Routing through Amamzon came across this 2.5" laptop hard drive case and thought what a brilliant idea. And at £10.49 if it didn't work I hadn't lost anything really.

When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised about how small it was and stylish (shiny black with chrome panel). It came with its own case as well. The manual had some bad english and was slightly confusing but soon sorted out what we needed to do.

Only negative is you need two usb ports one to power the drive the other to transmit and receive data for a USB connection. Even with the eSATA connection you still need to connect the usb to power the hard drive up. Apart from that I haven't looked back and would recommend this product to anyone.

I have Vista (uggh) on new laptop and I don't think I needed to install anything.
Great little thing.

5 star(s) - Great Product

I needed to retrieve the contents of my laptop HDD (the motherboard died - RIP). I had seen some much more expensive 2.5" SATA to USB converters and, although slightly reassured by the previous commenters, was still dubious about this one for just £10. However, it comes with all the cables you need and it's dead easy to fit a laptop HDD to the interface board inside and then connect the enclosure to a PC. 5 out of 5.

5 star(s) - Great Item,but no esata cable!!!

I bought this item simply because it has the esata connection which gives you a transfer speed of 3gb\s instead of 480 mbps so you can use it to run an operating system quite comfortably. The item is superb, very solid and easy to fit together, unfortunately i was under the impression that being an esata enclosure it would come with the esata cable, but when it arrived it only had the USB cables and the esata cable had been removed and the fact it comes with one crossed out on the box with a permanent marker which was a little disappointing and meant i had to spend a further £3.50 on a lead to use it!! So great product but due to manufacturers cutting costs it looks as though it's a pricey alternative to usb!!
